This would help increase production of crops besides providing direct relief to farmers

PESHAWAR:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to close all irrigation canals for annual maintenance and de-siltation from January 10, 2017 on the request of farmers due to prolonged drought in the province. Senior Minister for Irrigation K-P, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, on the request of farmers and growers directed the senior officials of the irrigation department to close canals from January 10 instead of January 1, 2017 so that farmers could complete irrigation of their crops in the province. This would help increase production of crops besides providing direct relief to farmers.
