A strong 205-run partnership between Awais Zia and Adil Amin guided SSGC to a 70-run win over HBL in National One-Day Cup for departments at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday.
Batting first, SSGC posted a total of 349-7 as Zia made 134 off 101 balls, smashing 10 fours and seven sixes, while Amin hit 10 boundaries and two sixes in his 114-ball 104-run knock. For HBL, Fahim Ashraf was able to take three wickets.
Chasing 350, HBL were restricted to 279 in 45.1 overs as Ziaul Haq claimed four wickets, while Muhammad Irfan dismissed two batsmen. HBL’s Fakhar Zaman (72) was the highest scorer.
Pakistan’s premier 50-over tournament kicks off
In the match at SBP Ground in Karachi, an all-round performance by Anwar Ali and Fahad Iqbal helped PIA register their first victory of the tournament as they defeated KRL by three wickets.
Batting first, KRL were restricted to 183 as Hassan Mehmood, Anwar, Aizaz Cheema and Iqbal took two wickets each giving away 19, 25, 26 and 33 runs respectively.
In reply, PIA reached the target with five overs and three wickets to spare as Anwar played an unbeaten innings of 78 runs off 89 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, while Iqbal contributed with 55 runs.
At the National Stadium in Karachi, a four-wicket haul by Zulfiqar Babar and a 70-run knock by Kamran Akmal helped WAPDA defeat UBL by three wickets.

Batting first, UBL were dismissed on 221 as Babar claimed four wickets off 30 runs. Shan Masood (75) was UBL’s highest scorer.
In reply, WAPDA reached the target with three wickets and a ball to spare as Akmal scored 70 off 98 balls with Rizwan Haider contributing with 53 runs.
In the match between NBP and SNGPL, an unbeaten century by Imran Butt helped SNGPL defeat NBP by seven wickets.
Batting first, NBP were restricted to 273 as Muhammad Imran took four wickets for 46 runs while Bilawal Bhatti finished with figures of 3-66.
In reply, SNGPL reached the target with seven wickets and 10 balls to spare as Butt scored 102 runs off 126 balls with Iftikar Ahmed adding 95 runs to the team’s total.
