CHENNAI: Ravindra Jadeja claimed seven wickets as India humiliated England by an innings and 75 runs in the fifth and final Test in Chennai on Tuesday to claim a 4-0 series win.

Moeen Ali (32) and Ben Stokes (13) were battling at 167-4 at tea with the visitors, who still trailed by 115 runs in their second innings, needing to bat out the final session to avoid ending the series 4-0 down.

But Jadeja had other plans and claimed 7-48 to reduce England from 103-0 to 129-4 and then from 192-4 to 207 all out.

The 103-run opening stand between Alastair Cook (49) and Keaton Jennings (54) had raised England's hopes, but Jadeja's triple strike after lunch pushed them on the back foot.

Jadeja sent the openers packing early in the afternoon session with Cook losing his wicket to the left-arm spinner for the sixth time in the series.

Cook edged a catch to leg slip, missing out on what would have been his 54th Test half-century.

Jennings, who impressed with a century on debut in the previous match, got his fifty but soon followed his captain back to the pavilion after giving away a simple return catch to the bowler.

India had a successful review against Joe Root (6), England's highest run-getter in the series with 491 runs, after his lbw appeal was turned down by the on-field umpire.

Ishant Sharma got Jonny Bairstow for one with Jadeja completing a superb running catch at deep mid-wicket, bringing the raucous home crowd on its feet.

Ali and Stokes then steadied the proceedings with their unbeaten 38-run stand for the fifth wicket before another collapse ended proceedings quickly.
