Tribunal to inquire Toba Tek Singh killings

District and Session Judge Toba Tek Singh was appointed on Wednesday to conduct a judicial inquiry into the killing of nine men accused of being dacoits in a clash.
CJ LHC appointed Muhammad Azhar Chaudhry as the inquiry officer on the orders of the chief minister.
The one-man inquiry tribunal will record statements of eye-witnesses, police and administrative officials and locals from the area where the killings took place.
Sources claim that Toba Tek Singh police has prepared a report declaring the nine persons as bandits who were involved in heinous crimes. The report will be presented before the inquiry officer.
Relatives of the deceased persons claim that none of the men had a criminal record and they were unarmed at the time of the incident.
