Junaid Jamshed's funeral prayers offered at Noor Khan Airbase

Brother Humayun Jamshed, mentor Tariq Jameel received the renowned televangelist's body from PIMS, Islamabad

Junaid Jamshed's funeral prayers were offered at Noor Khan Airbase on Wednesday evening.

The singer-turned-religious scholar was travelling from Chitral to Islamabad in flight PK-661 when the aircraft crashed near Abbottabad, killing all 48 people on board on December 7.

Earlier, the televangelist's brother Humayun Jamshed and mentor Maulana Tariq Jameel received the body from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.

The body was later shifted PNS Shifa in Karachi. His last rites will be performed Thursday at Moin Khan Academy. He will be buried at Darul Uloom Karachi in the city’s the Korangi.



Jamshed’s body was identified by forensic experts through dental history and face x-ray on Monday.

So far, 26 bodies have been identified while 11 of them handed over to heirs. Fourteen more bodies are expected to be handed over to the heirs soon.

PIA chairman Azam Saigol said the nine-year-old plane was deemed to be “technically sound” when it last underwent a detailed inspection in October.
