The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed the production unit of a famous tea whitening brand for using harmful ingredients in the manufacturing process.
Food safety officials also wasted 40,000 litres of the finished product. Officials told The Express Tribune the authority had earlier issued a warning to the manufacturers as instead of maintaining 3.5% dairy fat, the company was adding 8% vegetable fats.

Separately, PFA officials imposed a fine of Rs2,000 on Haji Bashir Milk Shop over poor cleanliness and presence of insects in the shop.
The authority also imposed Rs9,000 penalty on Pizza Plus; Rs8,000 on Quick Fried Chicken in Faisal Town; Rs10,000 on Paradise Take Away at Liberty Market; Rs5,000 on Haji Milk Corner in Gulberg; Rs10,000 on Butt Sweets and Bakers in Gulberg; Rs6,000 on Waqas Sweets; Rs21,000 on Ghosia Halwa Puri; Rs12,500 on Ghosia Milk Shop; and Rs5,000 on Bismillah Hotel in Township.
