One FC personnel injured as convoy targeted with IED in Shabqadar
Twelve suspects rounded up in search operation following the attack, police say
SHABQADAR:
At least one Frontier Corps (FC) personnel was injured as an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in the Shabqadar area near Mohmand Agency on Sunday.
The convoy was targeted when it was on its way from Mohmand to Peshawar, said Sro Kali police station official Wajid Ali Khan. As soon as it reached Dhando bridge on main Shabqadar road, explosives planted on the roadside went off, injuring Subidar Najab Ali.
The official was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar where his condition was said to be stable. A van was also partially damaged in the attack. Following the incident, FC and police cordoned the area and began a search operation.

Meanwhile, DSP Shabqadar circle Muhammad Fayaz said 12 suspects were rounded up during the search operation, and two Kalashnikovs recovered from their possession.
He added that the bordering Mohmand Charsadda is the same area where two-week long combing search operations were held last month wherein a large number of suspects were held and ammunition seized.

On Thursday, FC foiled militants’ attempt to infiltrate into Pakistan from the Afghan side and killed at least one terrorist in Lower Kurram, Fata. According to the law enforcement agency, the militants were planning large-scale terrorist activities in Hangu and Thall areas.
K-P and its adjoining Fata have seen a rise in killings during the last couple of weeks. Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched in the country in June 2014 to purge the far-flung areas of the country of terrorist elements and rebuilt the areas affected by militancy.
