ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Friday again accused the previous regime led by the Pakistan Peoples Party of indulging in corruption at the expense of citizens in the valley.

“Eradication of corruption from AJK is my mission,” Haider said.

In a press statement on International Anti-Corruption Day, Haider said that the previous government in AJK failed to deliver because of corruption.

“I assure all the parents their children would get jobs on merit, we are chalking out long-term planning to eradicate financial and moral corruption,” he said.

The AJK premier added that his government was executing projects transparently, on merit and making judicious use of public money.

The prime minister called corruption a multi-faceted problem which should be countered on all fronts with sincerity, planning and strict implementation of anti-graft laws with public support to put a halt to this growing menace.

He said the scourge of corruption had weakened the basic foundations of the society, making it difficult to tackle severe challenges.

Haider said corruption is antithesis of good governance, undermines democracy, weakens democratic institutions, hampers economic growth and negates the ideals of virtue, justice, responsibility and public service.
