Police await results of medical report as magistrate remands suspect to jail
ISLAMABAD:
Police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a 12-year-old seminary student after luring him away into the Shakarparian woods.
The suspect has been sent to jail on judicial remand.
Police on Friday said that while they were out on routine patrol near Shakarparian late on Thursday, they spotted the suspect with a young boy. Suspecting something was wrong, police pulled the two over. After some initial questions, they took the two to the police station.
10-year-old boy raped in Peshawar
The suspect, identified as Ammar, 27, was arrested by the Aabpara police after the victim and his father* filed a complaint.
Officials said a police patrol found the suspect with the victim* near Shakarparian and took them to the station.
“The boy says he was sexually assaulted but the suspect denies this,” a police officer told The Express Tribune.
Later, the victim’s father* lodged a complaint claiming that the suspect had raped his son. The victim*, according to the complaint, studied at a seminary in Sector G-9 and was returning home on Thursday afternoon when the suspect, riding a motorcycle, forced him into the jungle near Shakarparian. The father accused Ammar of raping his son and requested action against him.

The police officer, however, said that stains on the victim’s pants gave credence to the allegations but the results of a medical examination of the victim are still awaited.
“Investigations are under way and the medical report is awaited,” he said. The official also said that the suspect had no previous contact with the victim and that the two had met for the first time on Thursday. The suspect was produced before a magistrate on Friday and sent to Adiala Jail on judicial custody remand.
