SUKKUR: A jobless youth staged a protest outside the Ghotki Press Club on Tuesday against the agriculture department, which, according to him, was not giving him a  job under the son quota.

Muhammad Yousuf Mangi, a resident of Tando Tapai Muhallah, protested outside the press club and shouted slogans against the agriculture department. The man also carried a placard inscribed with slogans against the department.

Talking to reporters, Muhammad Yousuf said that his deceased father, Maula Bux Mangi, was a Beldar in the agriculture department. He said that his father suffered a paralysis stroke and became bed-ridden. He added that after some time, a medical board was constituted by the agriculture department, which, after thorough check-up, declared his father unfit for the job.

"My father was forcibly retired on medical grounds and the officers promised to give me a job under son quota but so far nothing has been done," he bemoaned. "After my father's death, I wrote many applications to the Sindh chief minister, governor and agriculture minister but to no avail.  Yousuf appealed to Pakistan's president, prime minister and chief justice and Sindh's chief minister to consider his case and provide him job under son quota as his family is leading a miserable life. "I will stage a sit-in outside the CM House in Karachi till death if a job is not given to me," he added.
