ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has directed the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and the Islamabad Police to ensure special security arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) processions.

According to police sources, a special meeting has been summoned by the Islamabad deputy commissioner to review and finalise security and traffic arrangements in connection with processions on Eid Miladun Nabi in the capital on Rabiul Awwal 12, which will coincidentally fall on December 12. The meeting will be held next week.

According to the initial draft of the security plan, the assistant commissioner (City) will be joined by police officials as he carries out inspections of the route before the start of the procession and will ensure comprehensive security arrangements during the procession.

Standing on rooftops along the procession route will not be allowed, while meetings with religious scholars and members of Markazi Milad Committee would be held in the coming week to get them on board with the security arrangements. Four SPs, six ASPs and DSPs, and 11 inspectors will be assigned security duties at the processions and would be assisted by the SHO of the respective police station. The processions will be completely guarded by policemen from the front and the rear, while the police will also block off streets so that no outsider can enter the procession.
