Ill-fated vehicle: Three killed, five injured as truck plunges into ravine

ABBOTTABAD: Three members of the same family were killed while five others were injured when a truck they were travelling in fell into a deep ravine early on Friday morning, police said.

According to Sherwan police, a family was travelling in a truck from Abbottabad to their village Pind Kargu Khan. At about 3:30 am, when the truck was near village Bagariyan, about a half a kilometer from Pind Kargu Khan, the driver lost control of the vehicle, plunging the ill-fated truck several hundred feet into the deep gorge. Three of the passengers were killed on the spot while five others suffered critical injuries.

It took the locals some time to reach the spot and try and rescue the survivors. The bodies and the injured were rushed to the Ayub Teaching Hospital. Those killed were identified as Asad son of Sardar, Zardad son of Hakim and Ahsan son of Suleman. The injured were identified as Dildar, Asif, Mushtaq, Anwar and Kashif.
