Fahad Malik murder case: Suspect requests withdrawal of terror charge

ISLAMABAD: One of the key suspects standing trial in the Fahad Malik murder case has challenged his trial by the anti-terrorism court (ATC), stating that section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act should be omitted and the case transferred to a sessions court instead.

The suspect, Noman Khokhar, through his counsel, submitted on Friday an application before a court to request to transfer his case to a sessions court. Earlier, Mehmood had also filed a similar application.

Meanwhile, ATC-I Judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi extended the remand of Raja Arshad Mehmood and Noman Khokhar till December 2.

They have requested the court to decide the applications before they are to be indicted. They could not be indicted on Friday because the counsel for the complainant was not present in court.

Shalimar police had booked Mehmood, Khokhar and at least eight other unidentified people after Malik was gunned down in F-10/3 in the early hours of August 15.
