“The outgoing chief secretary was controversial. There are a few cases against him and he still is on protective bail. The incumbent chief minister while talking over his charge wanted to transfer him, but it took a little time,” said a senior official of the Sindh government requesting anonymity. The decision was taken after consultation with Pakistan Peoples Party president Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai, the official added.
After the appointment of the new chief secretary, rumours are rife about the transfer of Sindh IG Allah Dino Khawaja.
The government is currently considering Ghulam Qadir Thebo, who works as chairperson of Anti-Corruption, and Sanaullah Abbasi, who is the AIG of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), for the coveted post, informed a source privy to the developments.
However, information adviser Maula Bux Chandio said that the transfer and postings of the officers are a routine matter. “Sindh IG is an honest officer. I don’t have any idea about his transfer. It is the government’s prerogative to continue with him or bring another IG,” he remarked when asked about Sindh IG’s transfer.
