Hosts manage to extend their unbeaten run to six games against visitors

New Zealand Women defeated Pakistan Women by 14 runs in their T20I match to complete their dominant home run against the visitors.



In the one-off encounter at Saxton Oval in Nelson on Monday, New Zealand posted a score of 118-9 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Liz Perry was the top-scorer for the hosts after she scored 26 off 21 deliveries.

Pakistani bowlers troubled their opponents in the first innings, with Asmavia Iqbal and Sana Mir taking two wickets apiece, alongside Iram Javed, Sadia Yousuf, and Nida Dar who gained one scalp each.

However, in reply, Pakistan only managed to make 104 in 20 overs as they were dismissed off the final ball of the match. Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten on 28 off 22 deliveries.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Lea Tahuhu and Amelia Kerr claimed three wickets each, whereas Thamsyn Newton gained two wickets.

Pakistan were hoping for a better performance in the shortest format of the game, following a 5-0 loss in the ODI series.



Monday’s match also made history by featuring three women officials, the first international match to do so.
