Joys of winter: Droves of tourists to head north for snow

At least 35% increase in domestic tourists has been witnessed in these areas

ISLAMABAD: Droves of tourists are expected to head north as the first snow of winter falls.

The local communities are hotly anticipating it hoping to cash in on the impending economic activity generated by the tourism.

According to an official of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), the northern areas of the country will be attracting a large number of domestic tourists with the start of snow season.

He said that Murree, Gallyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Skardu, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba, Dir, Swat,Kaghan, Naran and Shangla, receive snowfall every year and have
become centre of attraction for tourists.

At least 35% increase in domestic tourists has been witnessed in these areas as compared to previous years due to improved law and order situation, he added. Pakistan has great potential for adventure tourism.
