KARACHI: The DIG of traffic has announced a traffic plan for the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS), 2016, at the Expo Centre from tomorrow (Tuesday) till Friday.

According to the plan, all commercial vehicles coming from Jinnah International Airport towards the National Stadium via Karsaz will be diverted towards Baloch Colony and through a U-turn from Tipu Sultan Bridge towards Shaheed-e-Millat Road to approach Jail Flyover and University Road or Gharibabad.

On Tuesday, both tracks of University Road will be closed for security reasons from Jafri Optics to Civic Centre till 1pm. All commercial vehicles coming from SITE area travelling towards Sharae Faisal or Karsaz will be diverted from Liaquatabad No 10 and Sharae Pakistan.

All vehicles coming from Liaquatabad and Gharibabad towards Sharae Faisal or Karsaz will be diverted before the Hassan Square Flyover towards Sahba Akhtar Road and Machli Cut and then through University Road towards Jafri Optics, KDA Society and the back of the National Stadium. Similarly, travelling on University Road towards Nipa, via a U-turn towards Rashid Minhas Road and Drig Road, Sharae Faisal can also be reached. The Hassan Square Flyover will remain closed.

All heavy and commercial vehicles coming from Safoora via Nipa will be diverted via a left-turn below Nipa Bridge towards Rashid Minhas Road. Meanwhile, all light vehicles coming from Safoora via Nipa will be diverted left, towards Jafri Optics, KDA Society, the back of National Stadium, Steel Yard Cut and Stadium Road to Dalmia.

All vehicles coming from New Town heading towards Liaquatabad will be diverted towards Askari Park, towards Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road and onwards.

Other days

From Wednesday to Friday, vehicles coming from Liaquatabad and Gharibabad towards Sharae Faisal or Karsaz will be diverted before Hassan Square Flyover towards Sahba Akhtar Road, Machli Cut and University Road. Through this detour, Jafri Optics, KDA Society, National Stadium and Karsaz can be reached.

All vehicles coming from Liaquatabad and Gharibabad towards Sharae Faisal or Karsaz will be diverted before the bridge via University Road's U-turn towards Jafferi Optics, KDA Society and National Stadium. The Hassan Square Flyover will also remain closed on this day.

Traffic plan for Chehlum issued

The road from Jafri Optics till Hassan Square will be closed during exhibition hours and traffic coming from Nipa will observe Tuesday's traffic plan. Heavy vehicles coming from Sohrab Goth are advised to use Sharae Pakistan and Sher Shah Road towards Nagan Chowrangi and the Board Office.

During exhibition hours, the road will be closed from Hassan Square to the stadium intersection at Sir Shah Suleman Road from 8am to 3pm.

Stadium Road and Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi Road will remain open during the exhibition.

Only vehicles with stickers will be allowed to travel from Stadium Bridge to Karachi Expo Centre's designated parking area while the rest of the traffic will be diverted towards Stadium Road under Stadium Bridge towards Dalmia and Millennium Mall.

Parking along the route and around Expo Centre - from Sir Shah Mohammad Suleman Road stadium crossing to Hassan Square and Hassan Square to Baitul Mukaram Masjid - will not be allowed.
