Construction of apartments for judicial officers begins

KARACHI: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah laid on Saturday the foundation of the residential and studio apartments for judicial officers and a hostel for the special public prosecutors, which will be built in Bath Island, Clifton.

Speaking on the occasion, the top provincial judge said construction of a hostel adjacent to the Sindh Judicial Academy (SJA), where the judicial officers are trained, was a long-standing dream, which had finally come true. He recalled that the former CJ, Mushir Alam, had conceived the idea.

He said the SJA is one of the best academies for the training of the judicial officers. He recalled that 60 batches of judicial officers have so far been trained at the SJA, which means more than 600 judicial officers have passed out from it.

CJ Shah said the academy also offers advance course for the judicial officers free of charge.

SHC judges and members of the bar council and associations also attended the ceremony. The hostel comprises 68 residential and studio apartments for the trainee judges and special public prosecutors.

The project will cost Rs542.3 million, which will be provided by the provincial government. A sum of Rs120 million has already been released for the project.
