PTI chairman says PM Nawaz has denied owning the property before 2006 contradicting statements of PML-N leaders

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday claimed that he had staged a protest outside the same apartments owned by PM Nawaz in 1998 that the latter denies holding before 2006.

"If that Mayfair property wasn't owned by the premier, I should tender an apology to whoever owned the apartment," Imran said as he took a jibe at PM Nawaz over the latter's 'contradictory' statement.

PTI chairman was talking to media outside his residence in Bani Gala, Islamabad shortly after the hearing in the case.

"The premier has denied holding this property in London before 2006, but PML-N leaders Chaudhry Nisar, Khawaja Asif and Siddiqul Farooq have already contradicted the claim, saying it was bought during the 90s."

Imran went on to add that Kulsoom Nawaz in a 2000 interview had admitted to holding the property, saying it was bought for the children's education.



"Siddiqul Farooq and Sheikh Rashid have even visited the same apartment," Imran said adding, "Was it the wrong property they went to?" PTI chairman lamented that the premier was still seeking time to submit proof of the property despite a passage of seven months since the leaks emerged.

SC proceedings

PTI chairman felicitated the proceedings wherein the apex ordered the premier to submit all documents of the owned property on the next hearing.

“The Supreme Court has sought documents [of the premier’s London property] on the next hearing,” Imran said, “The court has told PM’s counsel that the judges might decide the matter in as many as two hearings and thus there might not be a need to form the judicial commission.”

“The nation must be felicitated that the apex court has sought response from the PM, who wasn’t allowing access to the questionable money or resigning from his position.” This had been going on for the last seven months, Imran added.



Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s three scions submitted their replies in Panamagate case before a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court.

In their written reply, Hussain admitted owning offshore properties while Maryam claimed she is a trustee and Hassan out-rightly denied owning property abroad. Following their replies, the top court directed all parties to submit relevant documentary evidence before the court by Tuesday, November 15. The case has been adjourned till November 15.

During the hearing, the top court gave a week’s time to PM Nawaz’s children to submit evidence and establish that they are legal owners of property abroad.
