LAHORE:
The second leg of Bridal Couture Week (BCW) 2016 is returning to Lahore and will be held from November 25 to November 27. According to a press release, the showcase will feature a total of 26 designers this time, including some emerging talent.

While most of the designers participating will be displaying collections that have already been viewed previously, BCW is one platform that always provides great entertainment and buzz for those who watch it on TV.

The Express Tribune caught up with a few of the designers showing at the upcoming three-day fashion extravaganza, to get an inside look. Nickie Nina will be showing Nouvelle Mariee, which they describe as a collection comprised of brocade, organza and sheer tissue in gold, silver and jewel tones. For a design house that has been around as long as Nickie Nina, one can only hope they innovate further in their technique and silhouettes to avoid looking run of the mill — an unfortunate destiny for most bridal collections.

Wardha Saleem, will be showcasing for the first time since she stepped down as CEO of Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW), bringing a brand new collection. “Rungraz is the secret of colours,” Saleem shared. “I usually draw inspiration from the subcontinent but this time, my inspiration is colour itself. Every colour has a different impact on our personality and that’s what I’ve played with.” According to the couturier, the collection is very intricate and detailed. “We have amalgamated different techniques together, including block prints, screen and digital prints, hand embroidery with gota work, Swarovski crystals and dabka to create textures.” She added that the pieces can be styled individually and also revealed that she is working on a line of bags for next year.

Saleem’s collection is one that we’re most excited to see from showcases on all three days. Other than this, Aisha Imran, Anees Malik, Amir Adnan, Asifa & Nabeel, Charcoal, Chinyere, Erum Khan, Hina Butt, Mehdi, Munib Nawaz, MNR Design Studio, Shazia Kiyani, Sobia Nazir, The House of Arsalan Iqbal, Umsha by Uzma Babar and Ziggi Menswear will also be showing. Zonia Anwaar, Ivy Couture by Shazia & Sehr, Faiza Saqlain and HEM are scheduled to make their debuts on the BCW platform as well.

Another design house to watch out for at the event is Élan, which will be showcasing their Palais Indochine collection that they held a solo show for last month. After all, it makes sense to show at BCW following that where they are likely to get extensive media mileage. Nida Azwer and Republic will be repeating their collections from the recent FPW while The House of Kamiar Rokni will show its PFDC L’oreal Paris Bridal  Week (PLBW) collection.
