HYDERABAD: The Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) has accused the Sindh government of wasting resources on thousands of illegal Afghan immigrants in Karachi while evicting flood-displaced Sindhis from the city. The party’s general secretary, Anwar Soomro, in a statement issued on Thursday complained that the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government is pandering to the wishes of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the builder mafia by evicting the flood-displaced people of rural Sindh. He suggested that instead of illegal immigrants, who are a burden on Sindh’s economy, this segment of the population from rural Sindh should be offered employment opportunities in Karachi. “The Sindh government has no right to force the people of Sindh to leave Karachi or proscribe them from coming to the city,” he said.
