LAHORE: Car enthusiasts were in for a treat on Wednesday as Ferraris, Jaguars and Mercs lined up at the Lahore Polo Club. Amid the oohs and aahs of the crowd, owners of vintage cars proudly showcased their gems from yesteryears in full glory.

Vintage car lovers came together at the ground to showcase their prized vehicles in mint condition.

Austin Healey 1959, MgB-GT Midget, Alfa Romeo GTV, BMW 2002, Ferrari 250 Spider, Ferrari 348, Corvette C6, Jaguar XJ12, Jaguar XJS, Mercedes 2020 SE Coupe, Mercedes 450 SL, Mercedes 450 SE, Buick 1976 and Cadillac Eldorado were the main attractions at the show that featured cars from almost every category, including 4x4s, sports cars and luxury vehicles.

The Lahore Vintage Car Show was organised by the Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan (VCCP) as part of their VCCP 7th Annual Classic Car Rally. The community-based club holds the rally every year that starts from Karachi and ends in Peshawar. On the way, car shows are organised in Lahore and Islamabad.

This year, the VCCP came to Lahore with over 50 vintage and classic cars. The annual event is organised by the members themselves. The rally took off from Karachi on November 11. The participants will move towards Islamabad by the weekend and hold another car show there. The event will end in Peshawar.

The VCCP distinguishes between classic and vintage vehicles, said Rizwan Naqvi, a VCCP Lahore member, while talking to The Express Tribune. Both were put on display in Lahore.

Vehicles more than 30 years old are classified as classics while car models from over 50 years ago are termed vintage. “Our estimates suggest there are around 400 to 500 vintage and classic cars in Pakistan,” Rizwan said.

A large number of people visited the car show and showed their interest in different types of vehicles.
