Pakistan tops 102.8 million cellular subscribers

Cellular subscribers in Pakistan surpassed 102.77 million mark in 2010, adding a total of 3.59 million subscribers from July to December 2010, said the latest report published by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The country’s cellular tele-density reached 61.7 per cent in December 2010, up from 60.8 per cent six months prior.

Zong stood first in terms of adding most subscribers during the reported period. According to the report, it added 1.79 million subscribers to surpass the 8.50 million subscribers mark in total.

Mobilink leads the market with 31,794,292 subscribers and a market share of 32 per cent. However, it lost 408,256 subscribers in the name of data correction during the half.

Telenor, Ufone and Warid gained modest 894,597, 725,902 and 585,789 subscribers respectively.
