Chehlum: Security beefed up in Pindi

Only licensed processions and majalis would be allowed

Foolproof security arrangements would be made for the Chehlum of the martyrs of Karbala on November 21. This was decided on Tuesday in a meeting chaired by Rawalpindi District Coordination Officer (DCO) Talat Mahmood Gondal. The DCO said full security cover would be provided to processions and majalis in the district. He said only licensed processions and majalis would be allowed. A control room will be set up in Rawal TMO, he said while asking departments to nominate their focal persons to deal with emergency situations. The CPO said elaborate security arrangements would be made to ensure security for processions while roads on the routes of the processions will be completely closed for all vehicular traffic. Additional forces of special branch Police, Elite Force, Punjab Constabulary, women police, Rangers, and members of district peace committees will join the along with district police will be deployed to ensure security for Chehlum.
