Stay order: IHC halts relocation of revenue offices
Tayyab suggested it would be more appropriate to shift those to another location

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday issued a stay order against the relocation of the district revenue department from F-8 Markaz to the I-10/3 Industrial Sector.
IHC’s Justice Aamer Farooq ordered Islamabad’s deputy commissioner to appear before the court today (Tuesday) to explain the decision as he directed a status quo on the status of the department’s location.
The orders came in response to a petition filed by the Islamabad Bar Association through its president Syed Mohammad Tayyab. The petitioner listed the ICT chief commissioner, deputy commissioner, tehsildar and additional district commissioner revenue as respondents.
The petition stated that the district courts and tehsil offices of Islamabad have been operating in F-8 Markaz for over three decades. However, on June 11, the petitioners learnt that the offices of the tehsildar, naib tehsildar, joint secretary and registrar of the local administration were being shifted to the Industrial Area.
The petitioner, Tayyab said, immediately filed a plea before the chief commissioner, deputy commissioner, additional deputy commissioner (revenue) and tehsildar, but to no avail.
He added that sudden shifting of the offices would create an inconvenience for litigants, lawyers and other stakeholders.
He added that stamp vendors, petition writers, clerks and typists were directly or indirectly dependent on the tehsil office. He added that litigants would get help when appearing before revenue officials for property-related or other matters.
The petition pointed out that the offices of the Armed Services Board, district food controller, local government and district health officer were also are also located at F-8 Markaz. He suggested it would be more appropriate to shift those to another location.
