She was speaking at a three-day international conference on gender studies titled ‘International Conference on Global Gender Perspectives’ organised by the LCWU Department of Gender and Development Studies in collaboration with the Global Gender Programme of The George Washington University (GWU), USA.
In her opening speech, Dr Uzma said the conference aim at bringing together leading social scientists, researchers and scholars. She added that the participants would exchange views and share their experiences and research results on important aspects of gender and development studies.
“Gender studies matters for the humanities because it requires us to constantly think about positive transformation for the future while simultaneously paying close attention to the events and consequences of the past,” she said.
More than 100 national and international scholars from different countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, and Norway, Zimbabwe and Nepal will participate at the moot and over 100 research papers would presented.
