Planning: Seminar discusses agriculture policy

To create awareness about the formation of the agriculture policy with special reference to south Punjab, a seminar was held at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University on Monday.
Addressing the participants, the university’s vice chancellor, Prof Dr Asif Ali informed the audience that it was the first time they were chosen to formulate the policy and the provincial chief minister had chosen Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan for the task.
University of Agriculture Faisalabad Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan briefed the audience about previous agriculture polices. He further highlighted the efforts of various policy makers in the field of agriculture.
He said the youth was the greatest challenge as well as an opportunity in agriculture. “We have to design the agriculture in a way that our next generations may remain associated with it,” he added. “The question is, could we be in a position in 2040 to meet the demands of such a high population of the country,” he questioned.
