DG KHAN: Four men on Saturday allegedly set alight a 12-year-old boy in the outskirts of DG Khan after a failed sexual assault.

The victim’s father, Hafiz Sulaiman, told police that his son was playing outside his house located in Basti Sohrani when four men abducted him, took him to their house and tried to rape him. When his son started shouting they poured petrol over him, set him on fire and fled the crime scene.

After the incident, people from the neighbourhood gathered outside the place and took the boy to the trauma centre of the DG Khan Teaching Hospital, where doctors referred him to Multan’s Nishtar Hospital because of unavailability of a burns centre there.

Talking to The Express Tribune, DG Khan Teaching Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Moosa Kaleem and In-charge Trauma Centre Dr Khalid Tehseen said the boy had been provided initial treatment. Though he has sustained 25% burns, his condition is out of danger, they added.
