Police still clueless about major’s killers

Officials say army is also investigating case but they also have not found any clues yet

ISLAMABAD: Four days after unidentified men barged into the house of an army officer in central Islamabad and killed him, the police have yet to find any clues to track down the attackers.

Zeeshan Qamar, a serving major in Pakistan Army, was killed while allegedly resisting robbers in his Sector I-8 home on November 3.

He was in his house with his wife and child when three armed men, aged between 18 and 22, broke into his house at around 4:45pm.



The officer tackled the first alleged robber who entered the house, but the other two, who were behind the first robber, shot Qamar in the chest. All three fled after killing him.

Qamar was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), where he died.

The Industrial Area police had registered a murder and robbery case against unidentified people on November 3.

Despite the passage of four days, police have been unable to make any arrests or other headway in the case.



“We are making hectic efforts,” a police officer at the Industrial Area Police Station told The Express Tribune on Sunday.

“Army officials are also looking into the case. But so far, we have found no clues,” the officer added.

Major Qamar was from Nawabshah, Sindh. He was in Islamabad taking courses at the National University of Science and Technology.
