Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Zakir double century highlight of the day

SSGC batsman makes 200 to take side to 529-9 against WAPDA

KARACHI: An unbeaten double century by Asif Zakir helped SSGC post a huge first innings total of 529-9 against WAPDA on the second day of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at the Jinnah Stadium yesterday.

SSGC resumed their innings on 361-5 and added 168 runs before declaring on 529-9 as Zakir scored 200 runs off 360 balls. At the end of play, WAPDA were batting on 101-5 and trailing by 428 runs.

In the match at the Multan Stadium, Shan Masood scored a century (106) to take UBL from 18-1 to 261-6 against HBL. Hammad Azam (45) and Yasim Murtaza (25) were on the crease at stumps.

Meanwhile, Lahore Whites resumed their first innings on 178-8 and were able to add only 12 runs before being dismissed. Abid Hassan finished with figures to 5-53. Rawalpindi were 171-7 at the end of play.

At the Sports Stadium in Sargodha, KRL made 339 after resuming the day on 97-3 against PIA. At the end of play, PIA were on 25-2, trailing by 193 runs.

In the match between Lahore Blues and Karachi Blues, the Lahore outfit resumed their first innings on 118-5 and added 144 runs to their total of 262. At the end of play, Karachi Blues were batting on 139-3, leading by 30 runs.

At the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, FATA, who were dismissed for 179 after resuming the day on 5-1, restricted Karachi Whites to 134 and were batting on 4-0 at the end of play, needing 209 runs to win.

At the Iqbal Stadium, SNGPL resumed their first innings on 227-6 and added 36 runs before being dismissed. At the end of play, NBP were on 112-6 with Faizan Khan (seven) and Ali Manzoor (10) on the crease.
