ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police will soon launch a crackdown against proclaimed offenders in the federal capital. Proclaimed offenders are people declared wanted in cases by the courts.

“The arrest of criminals involved in heinous crimes must be ensured,” SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani said, chairing a meeting of the SPs, DSPs, top officials of CIA and all SHOs of the city

Kiani directed all SHOs to launch a crackdown against proclaimed offenders and criminal elements. Particularly, he ordered action against street crimes and vehicle snatching. He said police officials responsible for delaying the registration of cases, sluggish investigation or corruption would not be spared.

Seeking input from the cops on the frontline, he said every official of the Islamabad police should devise a comprehensive strategy to control crime.

The meeting held at Rescue 15 was attended by City SP Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, Saddar SP Zeeshan Haider, Sub divisional police officers, DSPs security, CIA and station house officers (SHOs) of all police stations of the capital.

The SSP warned complacency would be met with strict disciplinary action.

Kiani ordered his subordinates to adopt a professional and responsible attitude to mitigate the suffering of the people.

He directed police to focus on resolving complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens, besides presenting a friendly demeanour to the public.
