Army officer killed in Islamabad daylight robbery
Police remain clueless about killers; case to be handed over to homicide investigation unit

Police are still clueless about the suspects who shot dead an army officer over resistance during a daylight robbery in Islamabad’s I-8 Sector on Thursday.
Zeeshan Qamar, a Pakistan Army Major, was in his house along with his wife and child when three armed suspects entered his house at around 4:45pm on Thursday, sources told The Express Tribune. The officer grabbed and took hold of the one who had entered first but the other two suspects shot at Qamar before fleeing from the scene.
The officer was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) but died of the bullet injury to his chest. Police have registered a murder case against unidentified persons.
Police registered 62 cases of murder in capital this year
Industrial Area SHO inspector Sajjad Bukhari told The Express Tribune on Friday that police were investigating the case but had not found any clue yet. He said a post-mortem examination of the body was carried out at Pims but the medical report was still awaited.
Meanwhile, the victim’s funeral prayers were held in the federal capital on Friday. He will be laid to rest in his hometown of Nawabshah in Sindh.
Another Industrial Area police official said the case will be handed over to the recently-established homicide investigation unit for speedy investigation.
