MULTAN: In a massive ceremony, at least 200 couples tied the knot in Hasilpur District on Tuesday. The collective marriages were organised under the patronage of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader from NA-186 Chaudhry Naeemuddin Waraich.

On the occasion, the couples were given copies of the Holy Qur’aan as a gift. The wedding ceremony was arranged at a farm house in Goth Shah Muhammad, Khairpur. Food was also served to the guests. At the end of the ceremony, prayers were held for the happy and prosperous life of couples.

While addressing the ceremony, Naeemuddin said the marriages of more than 700 girls belonging to poor families were arranged in five years. He said 200 more couples would tie the knot after six months.

He added the dowry for the brides was arranged with the donations of the volunteers. “People have contributed generously in this good deed,” he maintained.

Earlier in August 2016, a wedding ceremony for 63 couples was held at the Prison Ground on MM Road, Fatehpur, Layyah district. The organizers said the wedding had been arranged to help the underprivileged. They said 63 couples that had tied the knot came from financially-stressed families who could not afford to hold fancy weddings.
