Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Abbas heroics give KRL win over SNGPL

Bowler take 10 wickets as side registers 149-run victory

KARACHI: Ten wickets by Muhammad Abbas and six by Ahmed Bashir steered KRL to a 149-run victory over SNGPL in their fifth round fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad yesterday.

Chasing 286, SNGPL resumed their second innings on 39-2 and only managed to reach 136 as Abbas, who took six wickets in the first innings, claimed four more to complete his 10 wickets, while Bashir dismissed three batsmen in both innings to finish with figures of 6-74.

In another match, NBP defeated PIA by an innings and 26 runs as PIA, trailing by 94 runs, resumed their second innings on 107-6 could only add 68 more runs before bundling out for 175. NBP’s Ali Manzoor and Altaf Ahmed took three wickets each in the second innings.

Irfan puts WAPDA in control

At the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, Azhar Attari’s nine wickets guided WAPDA to a 20-run win over UBL. Attari, after taking four wickets in first innings, took five in the second to restrict UBL to 305, just 21 runs short of the target.

The National Stadium of Karachi saw Islamabad defeat Karachi Blues by six wickets with the help of an unbeaten half-century by Abid Ali who scored 63 runs off 44 balls laced with 10 boundaries. Islamabad, chasing 163, reached the target in 33.1 overs losing four wickets in the process.

Alam stand keeps SSGC in the game

Meanwhile, the match between Karachi Whites and Rawalpindi at the NBP Stadium in Karachi ended in a draw as Rawalpindi, chasing 174, were on 35-3 by the end of final day.
