Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Irfan puts WAPDA in control

Bowler takes six wickets as side leads UBL by 212 runs

KARACHI: Six wickets by Muhammad Irfan helped WAPDA restrict UBL to a low total in their first innings on the second day of their fifth-round fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot yesterday.

UBL resumed their first innings on 42-3 and were restricted to 145 as Irfan took six wickets. Sohaib Maqsood (29) was the top scorer for UBL. At the end of play, WAPDA were on 130-3 in their second innings, leading UBL by 212 runs.

In another match, Muhammad Abbas took six wickets to help KRL restrict SNGPL to 128. KRL, who scored 231 in their first innings, were batting on 55-2 at stumps.

Alam stand keeps SSGC in the game

At the Multan Stadium, a century by Ahsan Ali helped NBP reach 322-4 in their first innings against PIA’s first innings score of 274. Ali scored 156 runs off 141 balls, while Qaiser Abbas (31) and Naved Yasin (28) were on the crease when umpires called off play.

In the match between Lahore Whites and FATA, Lahore Whites resumed their first innings on 33-2 and were able to add just 171 runs to post 204 in their innings as Asif Afridi took five wickets.

Zaman century takes HBL to 230-5

At the NBP Stadium, Rawalpindi, who restricted Karachi Whites to 198 in their first innings, were able to reach 309-4 at the end of second day with the help of centuries by Muhktar Ahmed (107) and Umer Waheed (106).

At the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, Usman Shinwari took four wickets to restrict SSGC to 235. At the end of play HBL were batting on 149 in their second innings.
