MULTAN:
The renovation of district headquarters and teaching hospitals worth Rs1.49 billion is scheduled to be completed in the current year, said Sahiwal Commissioner Babar Hayyat Tarrar while speaking to reporters on Friday.

The commissioner said the outdoor and emergency blocks housing the cardiology and maternity departments were currently under construction while the large parking area was about to be completed. A separate feeder of electricity has been installed for the on-time completion of the project.

Tarrar said a foolproof security system, including additional staff and closed-circuit television cameras, was being installed for the security of patients and their caretakers.

Medical superintendent Dr Abdul Majeed said a clinical laboratory with all modern equipment had been set up at the hospital to provide authentic results of all medical tests, eliminating the need for patients of Sahiwal and its sub-districts to travel to Lahore or Karachi.
