Pakistan Army dominate push-ups event

Faisal, Hussain claim top two positions against athletes of 14 other nations

LAHORE: Pakistan Army continued their strong start to the First International PACES Competition 2016 with another dominating display on the fourth day at the Ayub National Stadium, Quetta yesterday.

What was a testament to their superb endurance, Pakistan Army athletes secured both the first and second positions in the push-ups event of the competition, blowing their competition out of water.

Foreign athletes visit historical sites


The top position went in favour of Mohammed Faisal, who completed a mind-boggling 1,400 push-ups in the allotted thirty minutes. He was followed in the second place by his fellow Pak Army soldier Ibrar Hussain (1,368 push-ups), who was only 32 reps shy of the winner’s tally.



With 1,322 push-ups to his name, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s Zhang Qi rounded up the top three, while the fourth and fifth positions were also occupied by his compatriots.

As many as 325 athletes from 15 international armies took part in the aforementioned push-ups competition. The athletes were divided into groups of four and given half an hour each to showcase their stamina and physical fitness.

At the conclusion of the event, Nepal Army’s soldiers tore into their traditional folk dance in what was their message to the world that how happy they are to be in Pakistan.

The next phase of the event will be based on Combat Efficiency Test, which will take place today at Mahfooz Shaheed Garrison.

Samrat | 8 years ago | Reply Just google Bijender Singh and it says 3877 push ups in an hour, a world record. To top it all he's not even an army man.
