Is 32GB iPhone 7 slower than 256GB model?
This video compares models to highlight difference between performance speeds
Apple seems to be hiding some facts from customers regarding its recently-launched iPhone 7.
News had earlier surfaced that an iPhone 7 with lower storage performs significantly slower as compared to the higher 128GB or 256GB models. Now a video is doing the rounds on Youtube which compares the two models to show that the device does indeed have a difference in its performance with different storage options.
iPhone 7 vs Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7: Which is faster?
The video uploaded by Youtube user Lew Hilsenteger on his channel 'Unbox Therapy' shows him conducting a series of tests on the two devices. It is worth mentioning that the two devices have the same specs with the only difference being the storage capacity.
Hilsenteger first conducts a speed test using PerformanceTest Mobile app to compare the phone’s read and write speeds. The test reveals the two phones have the same read speed, however, there is a significant difference in the write speed with the 32GB version coming in at eight times slower than the 256GB version.

However, the speed test employs a third party app and proves the theory only on paper. Lew then conducts a practical test where he transfers a 4GB movie from his Macbook to the two phones and measures the time it takes for them to sync.
The results show a huge disparity between the two iPhones with the 32GB model taking 3 minutes and 39 seconds -- a minute more than the 256GB model.
The test then reveals that the iPhone 7 does perform better with higher storage capacity and as such users are advised to get the 128GB or 256GB models if they are looking for better performance.
