LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a number of eateries and imposed fines on several others for poor cleanliness and violations of food safety regulations.

Samanabad Town’s food safety officials sealed the Seven Star Confectionery Unit for not improving sanitation conditions despite several warnings. The confectionery unit had been found to have dirty production and storage areas with workers handling food items without requisite medical certificates.

PFA Data Gunj Buksh Town and Shalimar Town officials imposed a fine on the Avari Hotel, Lahore on account of expired raw materials being found in its kitchen. Food safety officials also found insect excretion in the kitchen area and directed hotel management to improve sanitation conditions.

The authority’s food safety official also inspected Pepsi Co’s Lays chips manufacturing facility and directed the company to improve the storage of raw materials.
