ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has said that the bureau has secured 77 per cent conviction rate in accountability courts this year.

Constant deliberations and proper monitoring has helped enhance performance of the prosecution division, the chief of the apex anti-graft body said while talking to APP the other day after culmination of NAB’s Directors General Conference.

“Prosecution was given targets and as a result the accountability courts conviction ratio was now remarkable,” he said.

The chairman said the recently concluded DGs Conference had discussed in detail several policy issues to reinvigorate the bureau’s work.

Chaudhry said due to various reasons, NAB’s working was adversely affected during the previous years. In that backdrop, the year 2014 was the year of reinvigoration of NAB, and added that the present management initiated a process of putting NAB back on track.

The chairman said during DGs Conference performance of NAB’s bureaus and headquarters were evaluated and status of implementation of decisions taken in the previous conference was reviewed.

NDF delegation

A delegation of the National Democratic Foundation (NDF), led by its chairman Kanwar Dilshad, called on the NAB chief at the bureau’s headquarters on Friday.

On the occasion, NAB DG Operations gave a briefing about performance of the bureau.

Dilshad apprised Nab officials about working of his organisation and appreciated the initiatives taken by NAB.
