ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz Tuesday said that they had allocated Rs12 million to resolve the issue of water shortages in
the capital.

He said this during a meeting with a delegation of Islamabad Industrial Association at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters on Tuesday. The delegation was led by the association’s president Fareedoon Khattak.

Aziz, who heads the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation and also has the additional charge of CDA chairman, said that resolving long standing issues of the capital’s residents including supply of water, modern sanitation system, playgrounds, upgrading parks and the road infrastructure were among his top priorities

In this regard, he disclosed that the IMC has allocated funds to repair and maintain water tankers, tubewells and pipelines on a war footing.

He added that the IMC was also working on an alternative plan to source water from Ghazi Barotha on priority.

On this occasion, member engineering, deputy director general Land and Estate, director municipal administration, director building control and officers of concerned formations of the civic agency were also present.
