Campaign aimed to spread awareness towards solid waste management

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) organised a cycle rally in collaboration with Wheel of Change – an organisation working for women empowerment – to sensitise masses on adverse effects of unhealthy environmental practices,
The anti-littering campaign was to spread awareness towards solid waste management and the
role of citizens in maintaining clean environment in the city.
More than 50 girls from various schools, colleges and universities took part in the rally that started from the Siddique Trade Centre, Gulberg and ended at the same place after passing the Liberty roundabout. Deputy Manager Communication Muhammad Umair Khan, Assistant Manager Rehman Rashid represented the LWMC, whereas, Wheel of Change Head Anila Shabbir and Husnain Naqvi participated in the rally as organisers.
The LWMC communication department also setup awareness camps and distributed pamphlets among participants. “We are ready to contribute wholly to our society as women are an inevitable element for change and development,” said WOC member Faiza Gohar.
She said the LWMC and WOC were excellent platforms for women alike to express their potential. Whereas, Anila said the role of women was key in the maintenance of beauty of the city.
