Facebook has restored Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) three official pages, which were blocked on Tuesday for sharing posts about torture of Kashmiris in the Indian-held Kashmir. The social media giant had blocked JI’s three official pages, including Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (official), Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Women’s Wing and Jamaat-e-Islami Tank Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, according to JI Spokesperson Qaiser Sharif.
The party also claimed its official page had been removed from the social networking website.
The Facebook administration restored all the pages on Thursday after a strong reaction by Facebook users. “Blocking Facebook pages are against the freedom of expression. There is no need to block our pages and people who do not like our pages avoid viewing,” he added. JI’s Information Secretary Amirul Azeem said Facebook’s action to block the party’s pages was unjustified. Around 3 million people like our pages and visit our websites,” he claimed.
