MULTAN: The district government has sealed a factory for manufacturing unhygienic ghee and arrested 16 people working there.

Assistant Commissioner Malik Attaul Haq told The Express Tribune that the action was taken on Thursday on the directives of Multan District Coordination Officer Nadir Chattha.

The factory was producing ghee with the offal and waste of animals. The raiding team also seized large number of bones of dead animals and other chemicals and waste material.

Atta said the task force had registered a case against those involved in the illegal business. He said all 16 suspects were shifted to the Delhi Gate police station for interrogation.

The assistant commissioner pointed out that another factory that was supplying raw material was also sealed and 21 people were arrested from there.

He said separate cases were registered against the suspects at the police station.
