In four new districts: Punjab govt to set up food authority
Chief minister has taken strict measures to control the menace of food adulteration

The Punjab government on Wednesday planned to establish a food authority in four districts including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala after the success of the Lahore Food Authority (LFA). Besides this, all the district food committees are being upgraded to task forces with the inclusion of food technologists in the committees. This was disclosed in the meeting of special cabinet committee, constituted by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shebaz Sharif to probe the incident of massive adulteration in ghee, discovered during a raid by the administration in Multan. Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Shamail Ahmad Khawaja presided over the meeting. All divisional commissioners and DCOs attended the meeting through a video-link. The ACS informed the meeting that the chief minister had taken strict measures to control the menace of food adulteration.
