Kidnapped or eloped?: Man remanded for allegedly abducting a married woman

Police claim missing woman fled of her own free will with ‘kidnapper’

ISLAMABAD: A judicial magistrate on Sunday sent a man, arrested for allegedly kidnapping a married woman, to jail on judicial remand.

Zain Butt, a resident of Sadiqabad, was arrested by the Sihala police on Saturday after a complaint was lodged against him for kidnapping a woman N* in Model Town, on September 22.

Soon after the FIR was lodged, the police, guided by the N’s in-laws, raided a suspected hideout and arrested Butt.

A police official told The Express Tribune that N* had apparently eloped with Butt.

The official added that in statements to the police, N* claimed to have been in contact with Butt for the around two years before eloping.

Meanwhile, Nilore police have also booked a man and his two sons for allegedly kidnapping a married woman S* on September 20. The suspects, identified as Iftikhar and his sons Sarfraz and Abrar, have not been arrested yet.

They were booked after the woman’s husband* filed a complaint naming them.

Police said the S* hailed from Nilore and was married to a resident of Kahuta.

However, police claimed that the woman was already in contact with one of the suspects, who had promised to marry her.

An official suggested that the woman had eloped with the suspects instead of being kidnapped.
