Kashmir abuses: JuD chief takes federal govt to court
Petitioner wants Islamabad to take up Kashmir issue at UN
LAHORE:
Jamatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed has approached the Lahore High Court for ordering the federal government to take up the Kashmir issue at the United Nations Security Council.
On Friday, Saeed filed an intra-court appeal before the LHC against its single bench’s order, which had dismissed his petition on August 23.
In the petition, Saeed’s counsel AK Dogar stated the single bench had ruled the matter could not be decided as it fell within the political domain. However, he contended, the case has peculiar facts which are fundamentally related to the foreign policy of the government.
On August 23, the LHC single bench had dismissed the petition for being non-maintainable.
The petitioner had requested the court to order the federal government to take up the issue of Kashmir at the UN Security Council in order to force India to implement the UN resolutions passed in April 1948 and highlight the issue at the international level.
