Govt bans pillion riding for two days

KARACHI: The Sindh government has banned pillion riding and people from carrying weapons in the city for the next two days to ensure security for Rabi-ul-Awwal 12, said notifications issued by the home department on Monday.

The ban would be implemented from midnight Monday and would be effective till midnight February 16 (Wednesday). The ban will not be applicable for women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, disabled persons, journalists, personnel of law-enforcement agencies in uniform and employees of essential services.

According to another notification, the home department re-imposed the weapons ban under Section 144 for the same duration. All permission letters allowing a relaxation stand suspended. All Station House Officers have been authorised to register complaints in case of violations.
