City-wide action: MQM official held in raid

A dozen suspects held in separate police raids in Orangi Town

KARACHI: A sector member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was among over a dozen suspects apprehended during ongoing targeted raids and operations in parts of the metropolis on Friday.

MQM's sector member Farhan Yaqoob was taken into custody by law enforcers during a raid in Block 12, Federal B Area. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning. Similarly, law enforcers also conducted a raid at the residence of MQM Federal B Area's sector in-charge Farhan Hashmi's but Hashmi was not available at his residence. However, two suspects were taken into custody near from the Federal B Area sector office. Both the suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location.

Separately, nearly a dozen suspects were taken into custody during an overnight targeted operation in parts of Orangi Town. Pirabad SHO Ashfaq Baloch said the operation was conducted on a tip-off about the presence of criminals, adding that the police apprehended the suspects and shifted them to Pirabad police station for further questioning.

Weapons were also recovered from their possession. The cases were registered and further investigation is under way.
