LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court has declared the ban on Maalik, the movie, illegal.

The Singh High Court had already declared the ban illegal on September 6 and ordered the film to be screened.

A leader of the opposition from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, had challenged the ban, alleging mala fide intention on part of the government.

The petitioner stated that the people of Pakistan had the fundamental right to watch a film in view of Article 19 (freedom of speech) of the Constitution and the impugned ban was not in accordance with law.

He accused the ministry of not only exceeding its powers, but also trying to save the political elite.

After hearing the arguments, the judge pronounced the judgment which was reserved earlier.
